It’s not always about finding the right match for ourselves, because often in life, we can’t choose the ones we are working with, depending of our lines of work.
We are paired up with a complete stranger and we just have to deal with them. We have to work not only together but with each other, like a unite. Beyond sense of respect and manners that everyone of us should have, what makes us become this great team ? What should we do to be the best team mate possible and find this cohesion that is going to finish the work and possibly do it in a good ambiance ?
I’m still here in Ireland for a couple of days, and man, I thank God everyday that he brought Joy into my life. Not only she is unexpected but she is life changing for me. I am so lucky to live this experience with her.
Although working here is challenging and life learning, my afternoons are brighten by the fact that our routine appease me and make me get to know my best partner in crime yet.
To Joy, people need to know their strengths and weaknesses and not be afraid to share them with their team mate. Because a lack of is always compensated by a lead of and a team mate may bring something to the table that balance the power properly.
That’s why in real life and today in this article, in work, it’s better to show your real self. That’s how you gain my trust. Because without trust, we don’t have support. Without support, we don’t get the job done.
After proving that you are trustworthy, it’s all about acceptance. We have to be able to understand our partner, to make sure that not only we have each other’s back, we actually accept them for who they really are and find solutions to work with everyone’s personality. Because everybody is different but it doesn’t mean that we can’t lift each others up.
When having something new coming in our environment, there’s always a period of adjustment, of learning (because we never stop learning). It’s ok to make mistakes and get lost or confused or don’t even know what to do, but we have to learn from those challenges and move on, together. There is no need to bring up old stuff just because you are frustrated, we have to support each other and have compassion with our coworker. Judging doesn’t resolve any problems, talking and figuring out solutions to get better the next time around is more productive to Joy. And I agree.
I won’t lie to you and say that Joy and I have those kinds of problems with each other. As I was saying, I am so lucky to have been paired up with someone that comprehend my way of thinking and share some fundamentals of it. Maybe it’s because from the get go, we were sincere with each other. That’s how we quickly found our balance and created this amazing bond.
I believe that the best way to have great relationship with your team mate is actually a work on ourselves. We grow up and get to know us. I found out that it is the best way to find people that match your personality. If not, we will just have to put some effort into it. We don’t have to be the same, we have different backgrounds and different way of thinking life. But because we are true to ourselves and to each other, I find it easier to accept our differences and work around our edges to be the best work mates possible.
